Ultimate Oscillator

Ultimate Oscillator (UO)

The Ultimate Oscillator is a momentum indicator that uses three different timeframes to reduce false signals. By combining short, medium, and long-term momentum, it provides a more reliable reading than single-timeframe oscillators.

How it works: The UO calculates buying pressure relative to the true range across three periods, then combines them with a weighted formula (the shortest period gets the most weight). Values range from 0 to 100.

How to Interpret

  • Above 70 — Overbought territory; potential sell signal
  • Below 30 — Oversold territory; potential buy signal
  • Crossing 50 — Momentum shift; can confirm trend direction

Pro Tip: The Ultimate Oscillator is especially useful as a confirmation indicator alongside trend-following tools like MA Cross or Supertrend, since its multi-timeframe design helps filter out noise.
